Craps Superstitions

The following are the ten most common superstitions of craps. Whether you believe in them or not, it is advisable you don't upset the true believers at the table. Another way to think of the craps table is that it has its own unique culture and way of doing things. As a tourist you shouldn't upset the locals by questioning their eccentricities.

1. When the dice roll off the table, the next roll will be a  seven.

2. When the dice hit hits someone's hand, the next roll  will be a seven.

3. When a good roll is in progress never throw money  onto the table to cash in while the shooter is rolling.

4. Never speak or touch the person who is having a  good roll.

5. Never mention the number seven when someone is rolling. (An acceptable reference to seven is it or the devil)

6. A woman who has never rolled the dice before, will have a hot roll the first time. This is the Virgin Principle.

7. Men who have never rolled the dice before will have bad rolls.

8. Never open a table or be the first player or the only player at the table. Dice are cold at a new table and need to be warmed up.

9. A wrong bettor will increase the likelihood of the seven coming up.

10. No-one can beat craps in the long run because of its inherent negative expectancy.
