Old School Blackjack Cheating

Whether this site condones or disapproves of the following methods is a moot point, they are largely historical references now. It is practically impossible to find any casino game where the following methods are possible. Never-the-less, you might find it interesting.

HANDMUCKING

Handmucking involved switching the players face down card with cards stolen earlier from the dealer’s deck. So for example, if you had stolen ten card and you were dealt a hard 14 with the 4 face down, then you would switch the 4 for your stolen ten and you would then be able to show a hard 20. Now with your stolen 4, you would wait for a 6 or a 7 showing before switching again.

The safest way to pull this trick off would be to have at least 1 other partner with you on the table. The pit will be watching the player who makes the big wins. So, there should be a second person who actually holds the steals the dealer’s card and holds the stolen cards, passing the card to the other player when needed. If the place gets hot then the second silent partner quickly slips the stolen card back into the dealer’s deck to make sure the deck still has the right number of cards. This way the big winner can concentrate on playing innocent.

Switching in a Cooler

Switching in a cooler is just a much more ambitious version of handmucking. Instead of just
switching one card at a time, you switch the entire deck. The new deck – the ‘cooler’ – is fixed so that your team comes out “lucky”.

This trick requires a team. You need a “mechanic” to switch the deck, “first base” in the far left hand seat to distract the pit, “third base” who sat in the far right to distract the dealer and the “take-off man” who is the big winner.

It is important to make sure that the take-off man is completely clean and it is always best to have the dealer in on the game.
